Our chefs have travelled around the culinary world – served kings and emperors … and have now settled in Weimar. Because here they decide what is good and sustainable, healthy and delicious.
The menu is small, but every dish is created with a heart and a passion for good food.
Christian Franz and his colleagues work with regional producers. Here they know the local farms and fisheries and even the flour is milled to suit their wishes. Vegetarian and vegan cuisine is a regular part of the small restaurant’s menu. The Mediterranean and Asian influences are unmistakable.
In Gretchen’s the bread is also baked in-house, but the sweet creations are from Koriat – a local cake Manufaktur.
The best wines to suit the menu are selected from the region or our European neighbors – preferably organic quality.
When the weather is nice the restaurant’s small roof terrace is an inviting place to eat.
Gretchen's popular lunch menu is offered from Monday through Friday. It includes a daily changing dish and a salad buffet.
And please do not be surprised if nobody answers the phone in the restaurant in the evening ... because then the food is cooked and served. Advance reservations are recommended at Gretchen’s.
Monday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
